Celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day: Empowering Women and Girls Across Mumbai

MHH

Highlights

  1. We are committed to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene has led us to engage with diverse communities, including community women, commercial sex workers, adolescent girls, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Self Help Groups (SHG), Safai Karamcharis, and indigenous communities.

In Mumbai, Palghar, and Bhiwandi, we organized impactful awareness sessions on menstrual health and hygiene. These sessions were designed to provide essential education and open discussions about the challenges faced by women and girls in managing their menstrual health. We firmly believe that education is the first step towards empowerment, and these sessions were a testament to our dedication to this cause.

Moreover, we took a creative approach to engage the broader community. Street plays involving the male population were organized to break the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation. By involving men in these conversations, we aimed to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone understands and respects the significance of menstrual hygiene.

In addition, we organized bracelet-making activities to observe the significance of Menstrual Hygiene Day. This hands-on approach allowed participants to express their support for menstrual hygiene in a tangible and meaningful way. The bracelets serve as a reminder of our collective commitment to promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring that every woman and girl has access to the resources and knowledge they need.

Menstrual Hygiene Day holds great importance for us at CACR. It is a day to reaffirm our dedication to breaking the taboos and barriers surrounding menstruation and to advocate for the rights of women and girls to manage their periods with dignity and confidence. We are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure that no woman or girl is left behind due to the lack of access to menstrual hygiene resources or education.

We invite you to join us in this important cause. Together, we can create a future where menstrual hygiene is a right, not a privilege.
